So we just left Rome...it was a whirlwind 2 days..but we had a lot of fun! I think it may have been close to 100 degrees and very dry heat..not fun walking around the city..but it was still worth it to be there! The first day we went to the Roman Forum and the colliseum, which were both amazing..but again it was dusty and soo hot! After that we met some people from our hostel and went on a pub crawl..thats where you go with a group to several different bars for a set price..it was a lot of fun! The next day Sam and I and one of the guys from our hostel went to the Vatican. That was pretty impressive and the sistine chapel is beautiful....after that we wandered around to the Pantheon and the trevi fountain..and got gelato of course! After dinner at the hostel we decided to go out again to a few bars, but it proved not as fun as the first night..outr hostel was just ok...our room was so hot like a sauna and i could barely sleep...HORRIBLE!
Anyway we took the train north and have just arrive in Manarola, Cinque Terre..and while hiking up the side of a mountain with my pack on in hot weather was not fun..it sure is beautiful here...unreal. I'll write more when i have the time..but i'm ghlad we're going to have a relaxing few days before Spain!
Ciao!

Glad to hear that you had fun in rome and that you got to see the Sistine chapel - you'll have to go back at a time when it is cooler there!! enjoy the coastline and the villages where you are -- if you look across on a clear day you'll see Corsica where I lived for a while - it is very very beautiful along there
ReplyDeletemaybe you'll get in your swim in the Mediterannean sea? send a couple of pix
love tata
Good to hear from you. Happy you and Sam are enjoying your travels. Sunday I went to dinner with the family to celebrate Bens' birthday. We missed your presence. It's hot here today and tomorrow and then goes back to the 80's. You still have Spain and then Toulouse after Italy. Keep enjoying. Miss you and love you, Grandma
ReplyDeleteHi Honey, Received two cards from you today. One from Venezia and one from Firenze. Thanks for writing. Keep having a great time. Today is Dad's birthday. Today hot again, in the mid-nineties. Love you, Grandma
ReplyDeleteOh...now the computer is letting me blog!!! OK, hi honey. Sorry I haven't been able to get a reply posted here.
ReplyDeleteSo...let me see...have you left Cinque Terre yet? Was it relaxing and gorgeous?? And what next? Are you stopping at all in France on your way to Spain?? I can't believe your trip with Sam is actually starting to wind down to the last destinations. Of course we would love to see some pictures. See you in a little over a week in Toulouse!!! Love you!
