So we are about to catch a train for Firenze (Florence) but we've had a great time in Venezia and i would love to come back some day! Yesterday we got up early and walked to the beach only 10 minutes away..it was beautiful and very hot..Afterward we had lunch at a pizzeria which was amazing! Then we took a vaporetto into San Marco and walked around the square and church and explored the many narrow streets and beautiful shops. We both had to restrain ourselves from buying the beautiful leather bags everywhere..that will have to wait til florence! The canals and gondolas were exactly as you see in pictures and i took way too many on my camera. Of course we indulged in several gelati trips and then took a break and sat on the edge of one of the canals to dip our feet. It does not smell like many people say in the hot weather..but it was HOT! We decided to have a nice meal so we sat down at a restaurant right across from the water. We both ordered gnocci with salmon in some sort of orange cream sauce with greens..it was the best gnocci i've ever had! We loved Venice and both want to return..anyway we're going to catch a train to Firenze and we'll be there for about 4 days which will be nice to take our time. Ciao!
maybe you should become a food writer - just the little descriptions does make me hungry !!! it is worth is to eat paninis at lunch and save money for a good dish at night!! florentine means with spinach if you see it on a menu - in rome, a la roman means fried usually
