Firenze!

We arrived in Florence yesterday evening and our hostel is right near the train station so it was easy to find! The OstelloArchi Rossi has murals and italian paintings all over the walls...our room has 3 bunk beds and a bathroom down the hall. They serve us free breakfast and except for the weekends, they have free pasta and pizza at dinner...nice for the budget. Yesterday Sam and i checked in and then walked to the nearby outdoor market...leather bags, gloves, wallets, scarves..everything and so beautiful...my wallet might hurt by the end of this stay :) We got back in time for the free dinner and i ran intoa friend of mine from Semester at sea(who also went to oregon) what a small world! We're going to leisurely explore today although it's VERY HOT so i'm not sure how long we'll last in the heat!

  1. ah florence
when you get hot, go into a church! my first trip to italy, it was 100° outside and I spent all my time in the churches!!!

buy a little, but save some money too for Barcelona, where design is very chic these days
but it is true that the leather in italy is beautiful, just remember that you have to carry it with you!!

go to a palazzo where there is a fountain, nice for cooling off too
and say Hi to the DAvid for me

  2. What a beautiful city to wander in...enjoy and catch your breath! But remember that the market expects you to bargain also, if you are making any purchases, get your bargaining game on, and if you are buying more than one thing from a vendor, you have more bargaining power.
How amazing to run into friends a half a world away!

  3. nice pix!!! let's see one of you under a fountain -- and remember - when you throw a coin into a fountain, it brings you good luck ( and the italians say that it means you will return soon)
let's see a pix of some streets in florence or in sienna too
